    There are some cell phone numbers in India that start with the number 8 instead of 9. I believe it’s an Airtel company there supporting these numbers.

    Can you confirm that please?

    I think there are cell phones starting with both 8 and 7. However, there are also landlines starting with these two digits therefore it will be hard to differentiate between mobile and fixed numbers. I will further look into this to see how I can more accurately describe India’s numbering plan.
