As of today, October 15, 2010 the Agence de Regulation des Postes et des Communications Electroniques Brazzaville announces the introduction of a new telephone numbering plan for the Republic of Congo, increasing the number of digits in all fixed and mobile phone numbers from 7 to 9 as follows.
Fixed numbers
All fixed telephone numbers are added digits 22. Example: Brazzaville number (before October 15, 2010) 28? ???? becomes 22 28? ???? (starting October 15, 2010).
Mobile numbers
Cellular phone numbers now start with zero (note that the starting zero is not a trunk code and should not be left out when dialing to Congo from abroad). Here are the 2 digits added to cellular numbers, by wireless carrier:
- Equateur Telecom: ??? ???? becomes 01 ??? ????
- Warid: ??? ???? becomes 04 ??? ????
- Celtel: ??? ???? becomes 05 ??? ????
- MTN: ??? ???? becomes 06 ??? ????
