About a year ago, the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA), Giza, Egypt announced a change in this country’s mobile phone numbering. Namely, all cellular phone numbers were added one digit after the leading digit 1 which doesn’t change. As a result, Egypt mobile numbers are now 10 digit.
Changes by wireless carrier:
Digits 0, 1 and 2 were added after leading digit 1 for Vodafone, Etisalat and Mobinil subscribers respectively.
Example: Vodafone mobile number 16 ??? ???? becomes 106 ??? ???? after October 6, 2011.
Changes by leading digits:
- 10 ??? ???? becomes 100 ??? ????
- 11 ??? ???? >>> 111 ??? ????
- 12 ??? ???? >>> 122 ??? ????
- 14 ??? ???? >>> 114 ??? ????
- 150 ??? ???? >>> 120 ??? ????
