On August 8, 2011 the Autorite de Reglementation des secteurs de Postes et Telecommunications Lome announces the update of Togo’s telephone numbering plan from 7 to 8 digit phone numbers for both fixed and mobile networks.
Changes in Togo’s numbering plan:
Fixed numbers have all been added digit 2 (two). Example: fixed numbers in the city of Lome of the format 2?? ?? ?? have become 22 ?? ?? ??.
Cellular numbers start with digit 9 now as follows:
- Subscribers of Togo Cellulaire
- old numbers of the format 9?? ?? ?? have become 90 ?? ?? ??
- 0?? ?? ?? and 8?? ?? ?? both are now 91 ?? ?? ?? (0 and 8 are both replaced with 91)
- 7?? ?? ?? becomes 92 ?? ?? ?? (7 is replaced by 92)
- Subscribers of Moov
- for numbers starting with 0, 6 or 8 this first digit is replaced by 98 (example: 6?? ?? ?? becomes 98 ?? ?? ??)
- for numbers starting with 5, 6 or 9 this first digit is replaced by 99 (example: 5?? ?? ?? becomes 99 ?? ?? ??)
