    Hello Georges,

You leave out the initial zero only. Our page on dialing to the UK has more detailed information and area codes:
    https://www.howtocallabroad.com/uk/

Also a few words about why the initial zero should be left out when dialing in from abroad:

    Hello,

Emergency phone numbers are available for local use. You can not call a local emergency telephone number from abroad. What you can do in a situation like the one you describe above is either contact a friend/acquaintance who can call the 3 digit emergency number on behalf of the person in danger or you can call the local police station where the person who is in danger is located. You would likely be able to find the local police station’s telephone contact on the Internet.

    Hello,

The procedure is: there is no procedure 🙂
In other words, you mustn’t change anything in the way you dial the US cell phone while the person carrying it is in France. Their US carrier will simply redirect all calls to wherever that person is (provided they have an active roaming service).

    Hi Luke,

This is a US number from Iowa, USA (area code 515 is for Des Moines and other Iowa towns while the initial 1 is USA’s country code). Here’s more info:
    https://www.lincmad.com/cities_d-l.html

To text the number from Australia just add a plus sign to it or use 0011 instead:
    +1 515…
    or
    0011 1 515…

    I hope this helps.

    Hello,

I don’t know more than you do about closed cities. I suppose it is possible that they have some kind of restriction on incoming phone calls. Would you like me to try and dial this number for you to see if I get the same recording?

    Hi Jean,

All you have to dial is the full US number: 1 xxx xxx xxxx. No extra codes required. If this doesn’t work there might be an issue with your roaming service. Have you been able to call at all since you arrived in the US?

    Hi John,
You should call the company you bought credits from and inquire about this. There isn’t much I can do.

    Hello,

If this number includes the country code then it is likely a Hungarian landline (36 would be the country code). More info here:
    https://www.howtocallabroad.com/hungary/

If not, then it is impossible to tell because many countries use 10 digit phone numbers.

    Hello,

Probably your calling plan does not include calls to Canada which are after all international calls. If you don’t have a calling card maybe you need one to place this call (you would then dial a US access number to connect). My advice: either call your telephone service provider and ask them what your options would be or you can use a calling card. If one call is all you need to make you can use the free trial call provided by our calling card partner. To do this visit the page below and look for the Calling Cards section at the bottom:

    Hello,

It looks like an old Romanian number. A few years ago a 2 was added to all landlines in this country so my guess is that this is what you have. Digit 2 would be added right after 40 which is Romania’s country code. To dial the number from India use 00 before 40 (or you can use the plus sign if dialing from a mobile phone).

    Hello,

The leading digit for all mobile phone numbers in Italy is 3 so the answer is yes, there are likely cell phone numbers beginning with 333. More info below:

Sorry about your not being able to call. I don’t know of a calling restriction. The thing is, when I placed the call I could hear a message, but I could not understand it. You said you could hear “the number does not exist”. Is this message you have been hearing also played in English? I am trying to determine if we have been hearing the same message. If so then clearly there is an issue on their end.

Are you entirely sure that this number is in service?

What do you mean by “shared number”?

    Hi David,

Do you use 011 when faxing abroad or do you just dial the plus sign as seen in your example numbers above?

    Hi Rob,

They should see your US number. If they have it in their phone book they should see your name.

When using your phone in another country your number doesn’t change, it couldn’t change. You are just using their wireless infrastructure to connect.

    I hope this helps.

Upon dialing this number I could hear a message (a female voice). I couldn’t understand what she was saying. What happens when you call?

    Hello,

Yes, dial just that when calling from within the US (or Canada): 1 412 xxx xxxx. When dialing locally you would also be able to call without the initial 1.

    Hello,

Adding the area code to a Pakistani mobile number would not work, therefore 0092 plus mobile number is the correct way to dial. Make sure the mobile number does not start with zero. If it does leave out the zero. Actually, the Pakistani mobile should comprise 10 digits and the leading digit should be 3. If this still doesn’t work let me see that number – I’ll try dialing it to give you a second opinion.

    Hello Peter,

They also provide a regular number on the page below:
    https://www.1800doctors.com/how_to_reach_us.php

Back to your question – toll free numbers are “designed” to be dialed within the country they are registered. It is up to the TF number owner whether to allow calls from abroad or not. Many do and, as you have guessed, they are not “toll free” in this case. So go ahead and call the number – all you have to do is add your destination country’s exit code to your 1800 doctors number (011 for USA/Canada, 00 for Europe…). Here’s a complete list of country/exit codes.

If the above doesn’t work try replacing 800 with 880. See more info.
