    Hello,

You are partly right: it would be either +44 7… or 011 44 7… (Americans and Canadians use 011 instead of 00 to dial abroad).

    Hello,

This is a German telephone number from Berlin. I just tried dialing it and I got the machine – it said something about calling “Native instruments” outside of their work hours (which makes sense because it is almost 10pm in Germany). So the issue seems to be on your end.

Try using 0011 instead of the plus sign in the beginning:
0011 49 30-611035-1400. If this doesn’t work call your telephone company to inquire about your calling plan – it is possible that you can not place international calls without activating an extra feature with them.

    Hello,

I think it’s Londonderry and not Londonberry. Londonderry is in Northern Ireland which is a part of the UK (Ireland is a separate country). This means you should use UK’s country code which is 44. You should have:
    011 44 79002788xx. More info below:

    Hello Toby,

Apologies for not answering your email sooner.
To be honest with you this doesn’t look like a valid international phone number. There is no country code 80 so it is impossible for me to decipher the number.

    Hello,

After 00 64 you should have at least 8 digits. Do you have 6? NZ landlines have 8 digits (area code included) and cell phone number lengths vary from 8 to 10 digits. More info below:

    Hello,

I just tried calling this number and nothing happens, the call doesn’t go through for some reason. The number has the right number of digits for a Bangladesh mobile phone. Why it doesn’t work I can’t say, but at least now you know the issue isn’t on your end.

One way to avoid roaming charges would be to call each other via Skype or other VoIP service (this would require access to a WIFI or 3G broadband connection).

    Hi Michael,

The mobile phone’s location is not your concern. Just dial the number as if it were in France (+33) and their wireless provider will automatically redirect the call to Italy. Moreover, you will pay the same rate (the additional roaming charge is paid by the French mobile phone owner).

    Hello,

Why would you assume it isn’t? I guess the best way to know is to simply call the number and see if it goes through. Also, if it is an international number you can check out the number of digits and area codes comprising a specific country’s phone numbers, landline vs cell phone and so on. See our site map for specific country info.

    Hello,

Just add 011 to this Thai cell number. 66 is Thailand’s country code and the rest is the local phone number. More info below:

    Hello,

To reach your Swedish friend’s mobile phone you should either use the number in its local dialing format (07x xxxx xxxx) or, using the international dialing sequence might also work: +46 7x xxxx xxxx.

Regarding calling rates – using a mobile phone abroad does generally involve high charges. You would have to talk to your wireless provider about this.

Using a local phone is usually a cheaper option, but since you will be traveling through several countries it might not prove practical. If you have a smart phone, installing a VoIP application such as Skype or Rebtel and placing calls via a WIFI connection when available would certainly cost less.

    Hi Skippy,

They would use +44 7… The call gets connected through your UK carrier and back to Spain.

Just use the US number without adding any foreign area codes.

    Hello,

    1) Anyone who needs to call you must dial your US number as if you were in the US (this is how international roaming works – they call your complete US number, the call goes through the US and then Verizon redirects it back to wherever you are). So, your American friends in Europe and anyone in any of the European countries you’ll be in should dial the following: 00 1 ??? ??? ????. The last 10 digits are the area code and local number.

    2) To call German telephone numbers from Germany just dial what locals dial. For example, German cell phone numbers have a national dialing format (they all start with 01 when called from Germany and do not use geographical area codes). Here’s one example: 015 ???? ????. This is what you will dial. For more info please refer to the link below:
    https://www.howtocallabroad.com/results.php?callfrom=germany&callto=germany

    3) To call a German cell phone from any other European country you should leave out the starting zero above and dial: 00 49 1 ???? ????. 49 is Germany’s country code and 00 is the code you use to dial internationally from any EU country. Note that some German cell numbers may have more digits.

    4) People in the US do not need to change anything in the way they dial your cell phone.

As I said above, they only need to dial your US cell number AS IF you were in the US.

People from the US will dial your US cell phone number without adding any extra dialing codes.

To dial to the US use 00 1 followed by 3 digit area code and 7 digit local number. The same dialing sequence should be used by people from Peru to reach your cell phone (although you are yourself in Peru, in order to reach your cell they technically dial the US and the call is eventually redirected back to Peru). More info below:

See the link below for complete info on how to dial within Peru:

I have merged your last 2 posts to simplify this.

You do use an exit code and country code to call internationally. 00 is the exit code required for placing international calls from any EU country (UK included) and 1 is the US country code. When using + with a cell phone you basically instruct your phone service provider that this is an international call and, as a result, the exit code is added automatically. So you either use +1 or 001. Landlines do not have the plus sign on their keyboard.

While traveling to any country with your Verizon phone people from the US are not required to add any international codes to your existing US number. Verizon will transfer the call to wherever you are located.

    Hello,

Dialing instructions for placing a call to the US from the UK, Finland or any EU country should be the same: 00 1 followed by the 3 digit area code and 7 digit local number. You may also use + instead of 00:
    +1 instead of 00 1.

    Hi Heather,

You should drop the starting zero in the UK number and dial: 000 44 19128249xx. Alternatively, when using a mobile phone to place your call you can use the plus sign instead of triple zero.
