If you will be calling using a US phone with a US mobile number people will see your US number and possibly the exit code. They won’t see where you are calling from (country code). When using a local phone line (mobile or fixed) they will see the local country code.
Some landlines do not have caller ID and this is how it could make a difference.
Hello,
This depends. Are you going to make just a few calls or are you going to be in Kenya for a longer period? Also, I don’t know what your hotel would charge to access an outside line. In my experience hotels charge quite hefty fees for just about any extra service.
Big wireless providers have service in Kenya. I would go to them and ask for a solution. Here’s one:
https://telkom.co.ke/
Click on the link above and look for ‘Mobile/International rates’. If you’re going to be in Kenya for a year or less I would go with a PAYG (pay as you go) plan because it doesn’t require signing a contract. After doing the currency exchange from local currency into US dollars I believe they charge about 20 cents/min to call the US with a PAYG plan. A cheaper way to call would be to use a smart phone with a WIFI connection and place calls via Skype or other VoIP service. Or you could call via Orange if they provide reasonably priced broadband service.
Sure. People from Germany should dial: 00 1 followed by your 10 digit US number (area code + local number).
From the US no extra codes should be added to reach you – just dial your US number and T Mobile will redirect the call to Germany.
Hi Rick,
I do not know the details of your T Mobile plan. I can tell you that generally using a mobile phone in another country isn’t cheap because of the roaming charges.
The cheapest way to call these days is via a data based service such as Skype or Rebtel, assuming you own a smartphone. When looking at the T Mobile USA page below I can see that they offer several unlimited data plans for those using the phone abroad.
https://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/international-roaming-plans
If you are on one of these plans you could place calls via the Internet by downloading one of the two apps mentioned above at reasonable rates. You can of course connect to a wireless network where available and place calls via the Internet even if you don’t have unlimited data from T Mobile.
One other option would be to get a local SIM card with a local number and use that for local calls. A prepaid service with a “dumb” phone may be a good choice in this case.
Hello,
I can only confirm that 649 is Turks and Caicos’ area code. I do not know if this is a valid phone number. According to sources I use fixed Turks and Caicos phone numbers start with 9 (nine) after the area code 649 and cell numbers start with 2, 3 or 4. If you can’t call the number there might be a problem with it. You should add 1 when trying to dial this number: 1 649 and so on.
Hi,
0011 replaces the plus sign and that’s all you need: 0011 44 781….
Hello,
To call a New Zealand cell from Australia you should dial the following: 0011 64 followed by the NZ mobile number (which should start with 2). More info below:

Hello,
Yes, Elefsina uses area code 21 as well. This really doesn’t matter anymore since all fixed numbers in Greece must be dialed starting with the area code even when calling locally. In other words you can’t be in a situation where someone provides just their local number and you must add the area code to it (the local number can not be used by itself). In short, a complete Elefsina fixed phone number looks like this: 21? ??? ????.
Hello,
To call your friends while you are all Spain you should dial as if they were in Italy. You would have: 00 39 3?? ??? ???? (the last 10 digits after 39 is the Italian mobile number). To call them (in Spain) while you are still in Italy just dial what you normally dial when they are in Italy.
Hello,
According to our sources all Myanmar mobile phone numbers start with 9 (nine).
Hello,
Yes, use 0011 before the number. You should have 8 digits after 64. More info below:

Hello,
To call a Canadian cell, regardless of its location, dial 00 1 followed by the 3 digit area code and 7 digit local number. This is of course how anyone from Wales or UK calls you (either from a Canadian cell or UK/Irish phone). To call locally follow the local calling rules. They usually add a zero before a phone number. For example, a UK mobile phone looks like this: 07??? ??? ???. This is what you will dial.
Hello,
The dialing sequence is: 011 61 followed by 9 digits. The first of the 9 digits should be 4 (all Australian mobile phone numbers start with 4). More info below:

Hello,
Armagh is located in Northern Ireland which is in the UK, not Ireland. You should leave out the starting zero (used only within the UK) and dial the following: 011 44 28 3752 3806.

Hello,
If this is an Indian telephone number it is a mobile phone. Mobile numbers are difficult to locate because they do not use area codes. To dial this number from outside India you should follow the instructions on our website (depending on the country you are dialing from). One thing to remember: the starting zero should be left out when dialing from outside India. More info here:

Hello,
You can call internationally using Skype the way you would call using any other international service. Our website provides details on how to place calls to any country. In addition, Skype gives you the possibility to choose a country’s flag instead of dialing its country code. More info below:

Hello,
The number doesn’t look right. I believe you should have 20 first (Egypt’s country code), and in this case you should dial the following: 011 20 10 0006 69xx. More info on the page below:
https://www.howtocallabroad.com/egypt/
From Egypt you should dial 010 0006 69xx.
Hello,
To call home from the US you should use 011 followed by Ireland’s country code (353) and the national phone number (leave out the starting zero here). Example: call from US to a fixed phone in Dublin: 011 353 1000 0000. More on the page below:
https://www.howtocallabroad.com/ireland/
People from Ireland should just dial your Ireland number – your wireless carrier will take care of redirecting the call to wherever in the world you might be.
Dial US numbers the way locals do.

Hi Ana,
These shorter numbers are used by Peru residents subscribing to a particular wireless carrier (Movistar in this case). So if you were in Peru and you had a Movistar cell phone you could dial the short number. Since you are dialing in from abroad you should ask the person you wish to call to provide you with their full version cell number (nine digits starting with 9). Once you have the regular mobile number your dialing sequence would be: 011 51 9?? ??? ???. More info on the page below:
