    Hello Keri,
To reach your brother’s US cell phone use either +1 ??? ??? ???? or 001 ??? ??? ????. Basically you dial to the US and the US carrier redirects the call to wherever the US phone is located.

    Hello,

If the Mexican local number you want to call is a cell phone you can dial area code + local number (998 + 7 digits for Cancun). I believe this works for dialing to landlines as well.

If the number you want to call is not local you must add 01 before the area code.

To text from Mexico to the US you should use +1 ??? ??? ????. You do need to have an international plan to be able to call and text while traveling abroad. Call your wireless provider to ask about this.

After doing some more research I have found that, apparently 0051 no longer works. Someone reported recently using 00539121 (Verizon).

    Hello,

You would need to call a local Japanese operator who would then connect your call.

This website says 0051 is the number to use for placing collect calls from Japan:

    Hello,
The plus sign used before an international phone number replaces your country’s IDD code or International Direct Dial Code. You can actually dial + when using a mobile phone or you can use the IDD code (leaving out the plus sign) with any phone. The IDD code for the UK is 00. A typical call from the UK to Malta would be: 00 356 followed by the 8 digit Maltese phone number. More info below:

    Update #1

On August 25, 2013 cell phone numbers in area codes 12,13,14,15,16,17,18,19 (Sao Paulo state) were also changed from 8 to 9 digits by adding digit 9 in the beginning.

    Example:

Cell phone numbers in the city of Santos, Sao Paulo 13 ???? ???? become 13 9???? ???? after August 25, 2013.

    Hi Mark,
The location you gave above is unclear. I couldn’t find a town with the name Chun Won. Normally, the number you have should be complete. You would have 8 or 9 digits for fixed and 6 to 12 for cell phones (the latter start with digit 1). If you send me the number you have I’ll probably be able to tell you if it’s a cell or fixed. You don’t add area codes to a cell number.

    Hello,

No need to add any international codes, just dial the UK cell number: 07 and so on. See the link below for additional info:

Here’s a link to the official phone book:
    https://www.dastelefonbuch.de/

If you have the phone number and want to reverse search its owners use this site:
    https://www.dastelefonbuch.de/

Of course, since it is a cell phone it’s likely that it is unlisted.

The site is in German only – I use it with the Chrome browser from Google which automatically detects and translates pages into English.

As for how to call the number use our page on how to call Germany – towards the bottom you’ll find info on how to call a German cell.

    Hello,

The short answer to all your questions is: it depends:)

First of all – what type of phone does your friend use in Iraq? Is it a fixed or a mobile phone. If the latter, is it an Iraq or a US mobile phone?

If your friend uses an Iraq phone number (mobile or fixed) it shouldn’t cost him anything to receive calls.

Regarding costs to call without using a calling card – you must ask your phone company about rates to Baghdad (make sure you mention the type of phone he uses – rates to call an Iraqi cell are higher). There are alternative calling services you could use to place your calls. A few that come to mind: https://www.rebtel.com or https://Nobelcom.com .

If your friend uses a US mobile phone you won’t pay anything extra to call him (he will pay roaming charges).

    Hello,

To call your friend’s US mobile phone (assuming your friend has an international plan and therefore is able to use the phone abroad) you do not need to add any international codes to the US number – just pretend that your friend is still in the US and dial the number accordingly.

The Philippines number showing on your caller ID is a mobile phone as well. My guess is that your friend also has a local cell phone (or maybe he’s replaced the US SIM card with a local SIM). To call the Philippines cell add 011 to the number: 011 63 and so on.

The difference between the two situations in terms of calling costs incurred is that, in the first situation your friend would likely pay a high roaming rate to receive your calls while receiving calls on the Philippines cell is free (although this time you’d pay to dial internationally).

    Hello,

Satellite phones use their one code which is the equivalent of a country code. Inmarsat’s “country code” is 870 so to call an Inmarsat phone from India you would dial 00 870 followed by 9 digits which is the actual number.

    Hello,
To send a text from New Zealand you need to add either + or 00 to the international number. For example, in order to text to an Australian cell phone you would enter: 0061 4 ???? ???? or +61 4 ???? ????. If you are certain you have been using the correct dialing sequence call your wireless provider to clarify this issue.

    Hello,
To place the collect call you need to dial a local operator who would dial the call for you, so you would need to be able to use a local phone.

If you don’t have access to a regular phone, but you can use a computer equipped with a microphone try using Rebtel – they let you place a trial call before requiring any payments. Use the link below and scroll towards the bottom to visit this partner of ours and claim your free call:

    Hello Jo Anne,

When using a landline to place calls you can not dial + because the phone’s keyboard generally doesn’t allow it. You can use + with any cell phone. The plus sign replaces the international access code (also known as Exit code) required to dial internationally.

When calling internationally from the UK and any European country the exit code is 00. In order to call back to the US you either use 00 1 plus area code plus local number from any phone or, you can also use +1 ??? ??? ???? when calling from a cell phone.

You are correct about how your kids should contact your UK cell from the US (011 44 7?? ??? ????).
