    Hello,

Normally you should drop the starting digit and dial 00 44 845… However, the 845 prefix is used for special rate phone numbers in the UK and as far as I am aware these numbers can only be reached from within the UK. If you’ve been trying to call a business or institution they should also provide a regular telephone number for you to call. Anyway, go ahead and try dialing the number without the starting zero – who knows, you might get lucky.

These are all US phone numbers from the state of Virginia, except for the latter which is a toll free number. Just leave out the starting 11 and you’ll be able to see what I mean. Probably 11 is a code they use to place state to state calls. Check out this area code list for more information:

    Hello,
It looks like a phone number from Togo:

You might also want to take a look at another page where we announce a change in Togo’s numbering plan (in case you’re planning to call this number):

    Hello,

    Try the link below:

Or, you can also try using the international dialing format: +972 followed by the national Israel phone number without the starting zero.

    Hello,

Polish phone numbers are 9 digit so if you already have 9 digits there is no need to add 12. You should have 011 48 followed by the 9 digits. If it is a Krakow phone number and yet it doesn’t begin with 12, then most likely it is a cell phone (these do not use area codes). See the page below for more info, including starting digits for cell numbers:

    Hello,

Toll free numbers are generally used for calls originating in the country where they are registered. This is why you haven’t been able to successfully dial this number.

I looked up the number and found some alternatives this German hotel provides for customers dialing in from abroad.

I am talking about the “Freephone number from abroad” which you should be able to dial from the US free of charge, or, as a last resort, the “chargeable” number at the bottom which is a regular German landline. In both cases you should replace the starting 00 with 011.

    Hello,
Travelers to the US using a cell phone registered in their home country should be able to dial all calls the way you do. As far as I know, calling a US toll free number using a US cell phone isn’t free. This should apply to these visitors as well – they should be able to call, but they will get charged.

    Hello,
These are both cell phone numbers from Malaysia (country code 60):

    Hello,

Malaysian cell phone numbers are either 9 or 10 digits, and they all start with 1. When calling/texting a cell number within Malaysia you must also add 0 before the number. This is what you will use if your Canadian cell has Malaysian roaming service. See the link below for more info:

    Constance,

Directory lookup services can generally only be contacted from within the country they serve, so yes, you would be able to call UK directory from the UK, but not from the US.

Most countries have a domestic number people can call to lookup international numbers. Call 411 Directory Assistance – often they can help with tracing international numbers as well.

So you have the addresses, but what about the names? If you have these relatives’ names you can look them up using the phone book below:
    https://www.thephonebook.bt.com/

Be careful with paid online reverse lookup services – often they promise more than they can provide.

If it isn’t too much trouble let us know if using 880 worked for you.

    Hello,

Generally, faxing and calling work using the same dialing sequence. The thing about toll free numbers is that they are meant to be dialed nationally. Even if you will eventually be able to fax your document, charges will still be incurred.

In some cases, you can call/fax an 800 number from abroad by replacing 800 with 880. So, from Italy you would have 00 1 880 800 xxxx. You can read more info by accessing the link below:

    Hello,

You will dial either +44 7??? ??? ??? or 011 44 7??? ??? ???. Basically you will call the UK from the US and your call will then be redirected back to the US once it reaches the UK wireless provider.

    Hello,

I can’t say that I know what CMAS means here. In the US, CMAS stands for Commercial Mobile Alert System, which is communications infrastructure used to dispatch emergency alerts to mobile subscribers. Here’s more info:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commercial_Mobile_Alert_System

In your case I would ignore the CMAS and just call the number listed on the card. To find out how to call Turkey see the page below:

Normally he can’t because he will dial the same number. There may be a slight, usually unnoticeable connection delay because his call will get redirected from Slovakia back to the US.

    Hello,

It’s actually 011 not 001 to call internationally from Canada and US. Yes, your friend should dial your Slovak mobile as if you were in Slovakia (011 421 9?? ??? ???). More info on the page below:

    Hello,

Why not call the number to see who answers? Sure it’s possible for someone in Singapore to call you using a Philippines cell phone, provided they have roaming service activated.
