Try with + instead of 0011 and if it still doesn’t work call your wireless provider to inquire about this issue.

Hello. I would need to see the entire number you’ve been texting to (you can replace the last 2 digits with xx).

It is a UK landline from London (area code 20). All UK cell phones start with 7 after 44.

    Hi David,

Yes, it seems you have been dialing these numbers incorrectly.

UK cell phone numbers are 10 digit with the first digit beeing 7. No area codes are added to cell numbers. You have 11 digits in the first case and 12 in the second (the UK cell number is what comes after 44). My suggestion for the Glasgow number: leave out the 10 and dial 011 44 7818898???.

I’m not sure what advice to provide for the London call – you have 11 digits starting with 7. It seems there’s one extra digit in this number.

    Hello,

If you remove the starting 1 it looks like a US or Canadian toll free number. This is what I think it is (likely they had to dial 1 first for an outside line or something).

    Hello,

Australian cell numbers are 9 digit and start with 4. The zero before 4 is to be left out when calling Australian mobile phones from outside the country. To dial this number from India you should have the following: 00 61 45??? ????.

    Hello,

Phone numbers in Argentina are 10 digit – yours is a 12 digit number for some reason (without the starting zero which is to be left out). Normally, to dial from Bangladesh to Argentina you would have: 00 54 plus 10 digits (area code included). See the page below for more info:

    Hello Kyle,

It’s not a weird question at all. Using +46 (or 0046) is the correct way to reach your friend with your texts or calls, regardless of where he is located (US, Sweden etc).

    Hello,

I believe toll free numbers in Argentina are 10 digit starting with the first 8 – for some reason you have 11 digits. The starting zero must be left out when dialing to Argentina from abroad, so you should have 011 54 800 and so on.

One other thing you should know is that toll free numbers are meant to be used nationally so there is a good chance that your call won’t work. If so maybe the called party provides a regular number you can call from the US.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello,

Yes, drop the zero and dial either 0044 758 etc or +44 758 if you are using a cell phone to dial (00 works with any phone actually).

    Hello,
Don’t worry about the double post – I have to approve all posts anyway.

It looks like a German fixed number: 49 is Germany’s country code and the rest of it is the phone number. You can find more info on our How to call Germany page.

Yes, when calling a toll free number using a prepaid phone you will be charged regular airtime. Indeed, subscribing to an unlimited service would allow you to call toll free numbers without incurring additional charges. Or, if you have a smart phone you could use a VoIP service like Skype with a wireless Internet connection and pay nothing for calls to toll free numbers.

    Hello Carien,

This looks like a Mozambique mobile phone. These have a national dialing format (see here: https://www.howtocallabroad.com/mozambique/ ) unfortunately so you won’t be able to link the number to a geographic location. Also, I am not aware of a mobile phone directory for Mozambique.

My guess is that the starting 380 is the country code and she either gave you some special short number that can’t be called from outside the Ukraine or the number is incomplete.

    Hello,

in reply to: Dominican Republic calls #2618

    Hello,

The Dominican Republic uses the North American Numbering Plan. This means that calls to and from this country work just like US state to state calls. On the other hand, when traveling overseas with your US cell phone nothing changes in how your US friends call you – they dial the same number.

So: to call a US number from DR dial 1 ??? ??? ????.

There are 3 active area codes in the Dominican Rep: 809, 829 and 849. Since these codes overlay, 10 digit dialing is required. Example: 809 ??? ????. This is for local calls. I’m not sure if all calls in the DR are considered local calls. If not, for long distance calls you would have to add 1 to the number.

People from the DR would dial your complete US number: 1 ??? ??? ????.
