    Hi Sally,
I don’t quite understand what your question is. Are you asking if calling a toll free number using T Mobile prepaid is a free call? If so, no, I am not aware of any mobile provider allowing free calls to toll free numbers.

It seems that your carrier automatically adds 011 to international phone numbers – in order to call or text this number you would have to add 011 anyway (or + of course:)

Thanks for being straightforward – other people have also asked me “do I have to actually dial the plus signs?”. I even wrote an article explaining plus signs used on this website. Hopefully I will soon find a way to more clearly present dialing instructions.

    Hello,

You are right, either +1 or 001 would work in this case. However, using the plus sign isn’t possible with any phone. Mostly cell phones allow using + and still, the “official” way to dial internationally is by using an IDD code (00 for Europe, 011 for the US and Canada and so on).

One question: do you find our dialing instructions confusing? If so please explain, I always appreciate criticism.

    Thank you.

This number is too long to be a valid phone number.

    Bowles,
The number you have is from South Africa and it is a cell phone. Visit our page on calling to South Africa for more info on how to dial to this country.

    Hello,

371 is Latvia’s country code – you would then need 8 digits after 371 for this to be a Latvian cell.

It could also be an Indian number although you shouldn’t see a plus sign in the beginning. If it is a number from India the location is likely Tezpur, Assam.

    Hello,

Unless you accepted a collect call you won’t be charged more than regular airtime. When someone calls you from abroad they are the ones paying international rates.

    Hello,
This is a good question and I have to admit I don’t know how to answer it. I believe the answer is yes but I will have to double check.

Could be a Washington phone number – Seattle area has area code 206. Try a Reverse phone search tool for more information (enter the number starting with 206). Here’s a tool offered by the White Pages:

OK. I called the number you sent me and I could hear a message in I suppose Indonesian and then in English informing me that the number is not active or something (I can not recall the exact wording)

After doing a bit of research it seems that there are indeed newer Indonesian cell numbers which are 11 digit. Moreover, according to this Wikipedia page the number you have is a prepaid cell phone. Certainly there is an issue on your friend’s end. Possibly they can’t receive calls from outside Indonesia. I know it sounds unlikely, but I can’t think of any other reason unless this person is sending you a number that’s not in service. Ask them to contact their wireless provider and inquire about this issue.

One other thing: have you tried texting this number?

    Hello Alexandru,

I don’t have time to reply now – I will research this matter and get back to you later on today. In the meantime, you can send me the complete number and I will try to dial it from my end to see what happens. If you agree to do this use the Contact button to send me the number.

    Robert,

To send a fax you basically use the same dialing codes required for placing a voice call. To call/fax/text Germany you would have the following codes: 011 49 followed by the German phone/fax number. Nurnberg’s area code is (0)911 (this is just for landlines). Leave out the starting (0).

Let me know if you have any further questions.

You are welcome. If you want I can try dialing this number for you to see if I get the same error message. Of course I would add Phillippines’ country code to it.

This is unusual. I would call his wireless operator to inquire about this. Maybe his roaming service isn’t activated? I know you said he receives text messages, but still it is possible that there is an issue with the roaming service (unless he’s been able to receive calls from other people in the Philippines). One other thing you could do is to try calling him using another line.

    Hello,

This number looks complete to me: 10 digits starting with 9. Have you been able to call this number before (while it was located in the Philippines)?

Sorry for making you post so many times – I have to moderate all posts.

    Hello,

There is no way for me to know who this person is or where she lives. However, I can tell you that the phone number above is a cellular phone from Oman (country code 968):
