Yes, you use the same dialing sequence for texting.

    Hello,

Indeed, to call a Sweden number from the US you must use 011 46 followed by the Swedish number. You don’t use 011 46 to replace the starting zero – you drop the starting zero because it is a code used for national Swedish calls only. Anyway, to answer your question you use the same dialing sequence to call your friend’s cell no matter where she is (New York, London, Sweden etc). On the other hand she does not have to use international codes to call you – just have her dial your number the way other people from NYC do.

    Hello,

From Australia you would dial 0011 1 888 ??? ????. Note that calling US phone numbers from abroad either works and you get charged international rates, or doesn’t work at all , so it is possible that the call won’t go trough. In this case try finding a regular US contact number to call this company.

No, 27 is South Africa’s country code and no other country uses it. Have you tried dialing this number? Possibly, it is some special service used by this country. What happens when you dial it?

    Hello,
27 is South Africa’s country code. However, both landlines and mobile phones in this country are 9 digit, so you should have 9 more digits after 27. Our page on calling to South Africa has more information.

    Hello,

To dial from Ireland to Greece you must use 00 30 followed by the Greek phone number. Athens landlines have this format: 21 ???? ???? (10 digits starting with area code 21). So you should have: 00 30 21 ???? ????. More info on the page below:

    Hello,

You either use 011 or the plus sign before Australia’s country code 61. If the number you are dialing to is a cell phone you do not need to add any geographical area codes. Australia’s mobile numbers have this format nationwide: (0)4 ???? ????. You would drop the starting zero. Landlines are also 9 digit, including area code. More on the page below:

    Hello,

Our website provides additional info such as how many digits are in a phone number for most countries. On the page on calling Japan ( https://www.howtocallabroad.com/japan/ ) you’ll see that landlines in this country are always 9 digit (including area code). This means that the number you were given includes the area code for the city you’ll be calling. Also, you must leave out the starting zero which is a code used for calling within Japan. In conclusion, the correct dialing sequence from the US/Canada is: 011 81 47093 xxxx.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Michelle,

The number is a UK cellular phone. I do not have access to a database of UK phone numbers to be able to match this number to its owner. It is definitely possible for someone to take their UK registered cell with them to most countries, including Malaysia and use the phone in roaming. In this case your caller ID would still show the UK number no matter what country they are calling you from.

    Hello,

The dialing sequence you used is correct for dialing to Burkina Faso cellular. Is this a cell phone your daughter bought in Burkina Faso? Is this the exact number she gave you – you didn’t leave out any digits did you?

What I can do is dial this number to see if it rings. This way we’ll know if the problem is on your end. To do this I would need you to send me the complete number. You can post it here and I’ll remove it afterwards or you can send it over using the Contact button at the top right.

    Hello,

For UK people to call you they indeed must dial your complete New Zealand number: 00 64 followed by the cell number (if cell number starts with zero you must drop this first digit).

    Dan,

Afghanistan registered cell phones have the following format: 7? ??? ???? (9 digits, first digit should be seven). To this you add 00 (Germany’s direct dial international code) and 93 (Afghanistan’s country code). To sum it up: 00 93 7? ??? ????.

If the Afghan cell number you have has a different format let me know what it is.

    Hello,

To call Brazil from India you would dial 00 55 followed by the Brazil phone number which should be 10 digit (you have 12 digits without the starting zero). 11 is indeed Sao Paulo’s area code and the starting zero is used within Brazil only so you would leave it out. So try this: 00 55 112196681079, although I have a feeling you won’t connect because, as I said above you should have 10 digits and not 12 after 55. Also, if this is a cell phone you can only have one of the following digits after 55: 6, 7, 8 or 9 (you have 2). Here’s another suggestion: 00 55 1196681079 – this looks like a Sao Paulo cell phone.

    Hello,

This number looks like a cell phone registered in South Africa. Maybe this person is traveling to Zimbabwe with their South African cell. Here’s my reasoning: 27 is S. Africa’s country code and cell numbers over there start with 7. The only error I see – the actual cell number should be 9 digit (yours is 10 digit without the country code 27).

Anyway, to dial the number add 009 in the beginning. If it doesn’t work it’s probably because, like I said you have one too many digits.

    Hello John,

You should dial the Australian phone as if it were in Australia. Here’s what your dialing sequence will look like:
00 61 4 ???? ???? (61 is Australia’s country code and 4 followed by 8 digits is how their cell numbers are formatted nationwide). The page below has even more info:

    Hello,
Yes, this looks like a Malaysian cell phone. Possibly, this person has a phone registered in Malaysia and he/she is currently in New Zealand. One thing is for sure – the phone is registered in Malaysia, not NZ.
