    Hello,

Chile’s country code is 56 (not 54) so you would dial 00 56 32 + 7 digit local number. If you are calling a Chilean cell you do not add Valparaiso’s area code. See this page for more on calling Chile from Argentina.

No, just dial it normally like you dial a landline phone. This page gives more details on calling Honduras.

If, when placing a local call your number comes up the way it should then it’s likely an error caused by your boyfriend’s carrier in connection with how their system reads international numbers. There isn’t much you can do about this.

    Hello,
I couldn’t find a France Directory Assistance number that can be dialed from outside France. Some options you have:
-dial 00 to get International dialing assistance in the US (they can provide overseas telephone numbers)
-use the France phone books we list

    Hi Sue,

This is a Nigerian cell number – perhaps the person is traveling to Ghana and they have international roaming activated. If you have been able to call this number, but text messages don’t get sent here are some possible reasons:
-the two cellular networks are not using the same technology and texting is often a problem in this case (more info here)
-you do not have international texting activated

Calling your wireless provider to inquire about this generally helps.

    Hi Magdalena,

Thailand’s phone system is a closed one meaning they don’t use area codes. On our webpage providing Thai calling info we list “starting digits” for main cities in Thailand. These are not considered area codes. All Thai landline numbers are 8 digit and yes you have to dial the whole number. Same for cellular phones which are 9 digit.

The number you have is from Italy:
    -39 is Italy’s country code
    -06 is Rome’s area code
-the rest is the local number

I don’t know where you got this number, but placing France’s country code in front of it won’t help. The number already includes Italy’s country code.

Here’s what you’re doing wrong: you’re trying to dial a Rome, Italy landline using France’s country code. What you should dial (from the US/Canada): 011 39 06 96 70xxx.

It is possible if your cellular plan allows international calling. Keep in mind that generally international calls made using your cellular phone are quite costly.

    Hello,
You forgot to tell me where you are from. In your profile I see your country is the Philippines. The two UK numbers are cellular phones so you won’t need to add London’s area code. You will dial: 00 44 70…..

    Andrey,

We only list city codes. What is Kiev region anyway? Is this Kiev’s metropolitan area? Do you think people may get confused when seing Kiev area code=44 thus believing that all of Kiev’s region has area code 44?

OK I just dialed the number. It sounds like a voicemail message. At the end there is a beep signal and I believe you can leave a message after this signal. The recording is likely the default voicemail message provided by the wireless operator.

    Hi Joe,
It’s late in Poland now – maybe your fiance’s cell was turned off. The number looks right. I can’t help you with the translation, but I can try to dial the number tomorrow to see if I too get a recording.

    Hello,

Toll free numbers are generally blocked for calls originating outside the US. Some companies however allow calling their toll free numbers from abroad. To call a US toll free number from Mexico you would dial 00 1 800 ??? ???? (or 888, etc). If you can’t get through try finding a regular phone number to call the bank’s customer service (try accessing their website online for info). Many banks do provide a regular contact number for these very instances.

Just looked on Sri Lanka’s map and there is another city called Mawanella that also has area code 35. Buluruppa is located between Kegalla and Mawanella so I would say that it’s very likely that the area code you’re loking for is 35.
