    Hi Rafael.
9 isn’t a geographic area code. It is the leading digit for all Russian cell phone numbers.
Unlike the US, most countries use area codes for landlines only while mobile numbers use a separate leading digit available nationwide.

    Hello,
While in the Netherlands and the Czech Republic you can dial local numbers the way locals do – no need to add the country code. If you do add the country code the call will likely go through anyway.

Here are several ways to dial a Dutch cell phone from the Netherlands (the first 2 examples comprise the country code, the last one is what locals dial):
    00 31 6xxxx xxxx
    +31 6xxxx xxxx
    06xxxx xxxx

    I hope this helps.

    Hello,
That sounds unusual. Since you seem to know what you are doing, all I can do to help is call the number myself and see what happens. If I too get redirected to this girl’s voicemail then there’s very likely an issue with her telephone. So, if you want to do this just reply to my post with the complete cell phone number (I will not publish it).

That is strange indeed. I would look for a T Mobile vendor (or whatever network is displayed on your screen) and go ask them to take a look at your phone.

There are 3 ways to dial US numbers while in the US:
-using just the 7 digit local number (this works for areas where only one area code is used; there are many geographic areas in the US where 2 or more area codes are used)
-dialing the 3 digit area code followed by the 7 digit local number
-dialing 1 followed by the 10 digits above.

Yes, you should be able to dial calls just like locals do, either 10 digits or 1 followed by 10 digits. If you can’t call there is an issue with your roaming plan. Try dialing a UK number (011 44 7xxx xxx xxx is how a UK cell number dialed from the US looks like). You need to know whether your phone actually works. If you can place a call, any call, then you should be able to call within the US as well.

If he has a US cell phone with an active international roaming plan you can call him by dialing just the US number – no extra codes are needed.

    Hello,
What error message are you getting?
Have you been able to place any calls with your UK mobile since arriving in the US? How do you dial US numbers?

    Hello,

Here are all the combinations I can think of for a US phone number:
    aaaxxxxxxx
    1aaaxxxxxxx
    +1aaaxxxxxxx
    001aaaxxxxxxx

    aaa is your area code.
00 is the code they would use to call internationally from Vietnam.

    Hi Ray.
You can dial the UK national number 01707 XXXXXX and the international version should also work: +44 1707 XXXXXX.

+44 01707 XXXXXX is not going to work because the initial zero is to be dropped when using +44.

    Hello,

You should use your friend’s regular UK number as called from Europe: 00 44 7xxx xxx xxx.
Your friend will also dial your Australian number: 00 61 4 xxxx xxxx.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello,

The plus sign replaces 011. Using the plus sign isn’t mandatory – you can
use either 011 or + (they both should work). The plus sign can be used when
placing the call from a mobile phone. To dial plus hold the zero key (you
may have noticed that the zero key on your cell phone keyboard also has a
    plus on it).

Regarding your dialing sequence above: you should have 9 digits after 61
(you only have 8. So calling an Australian cell number from the US looks
    like this:
    011 61 4 xxxx xxxx or +61 4 xxxx xxxx.

    I hope this helps.

    Hello,

While traveling outside the UK, your cell number stays the same for anyone who wishes to call you. So people from the US should dial 011 44 7xx xxx xxxx whether you are in the UK or the US. The call is routed through the UK and then back to the US. It’s how international roaming works.

In the same way, your UK compatriots can reach you by dialing just 07xx xxx xxxx – the way they dial when you are in the UK.

    Hello,

It is a UK cell phone (UK cell phone numbers start with 7 and 44 is the country code). There is no phone number database for mobile numbers so I can’t help you with the name of the owner.

    Hello,

Actually I don’t think that this is a phone number from India. India has country code 91, but you should have a 10 digit number after the country code which you do not. This looks like a US phone number from the state of New York:
-00 is the code used to dial this number from the UK
    -1 is USA’s country code
-914 is the area code followed by the 7 digit local number.

    Hello,

Australians will dial 0011 followed by your complete US number (1 xxx xxx xxxx). In other words they will call you as if you were still in the US. 0011 is the code they use to dial international calls.

    Hi Dennis.
    Thank you for your inquiry.
While in Australia, even though you are using your US mobile phone, do not dial 011 when placing calls. 011 is only used to place international calls when dialing from the US. Once in Australia (or any country) your US phone becomes a local phone for outbound calls. So just dial Australian numbers the way locals do.

Now the phone number you have been dialing (1 300 …) is a special non geographic type of phone number used mostly by businesses. Kind of like a US toll free number. These 13x… numbers comprise 10 digits and often can only be dialed from within Australia. The correct way to dial is 1 300 1XXXXX (no extra codes are needed).

I am not 100% certain, but there is a possibility that this number can not be called using your US phone. This might explain why you haven’t been able to reach this number.

All other regular Australian mobile and landline phone numbers, when dialed from Australia, use the following sequence:
0xxx xxx xxx. Mobile numbers start with 4: 04xx xxx xxx. This is what you should dial.

    Hi Bob,
That number is only reachable from within the UK. On their website https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/default.aspx I could find an alternative contact number for calls originating outside the UK:
    44 20 7278 5240. To call it add 011 before 44.

    I hope this helps.

    Essam Attalla,

For some reason people contact us occasionally about Cigna (maybe you will be kind enough to let me know why you are under the impression that we are Cigna and I might, as a result, be able to make a change and avoid this confusing situation in the future). We are not in any way associated with them. This website is solely an international calling guide. Please go to their website and contact them directly.
