A good way to find a city’s area code is by looking up a business in the Yellow Pages. This is what I did – I searched for hotels in Kegalle using this local directory:
    https://rainbowpages.lk/

I don’t know what to say about this rural area.

    Hi Laura,
I looked this up and according to the sources I found the area code for Kegalle is 35 and not 60.

    Hello,

This type of service is called Call Forwarding. You boyfriend should ask his current provider if this service is offered with his plan. If this service is provided your boyfriend will pay the extra charges.

    Andrey,
Thanks for posting this info. I edited your post to more succintly report these changes – I hope you don’t mind.

One question: when dialing domestic calls do you have to pause after dialing zero? What about international calls (do you dial 0 pause 0)?

    Thanks again.

    Hi,
The short answer is: for dialing calls your phone behaves like a local phone while for people to call you they must dial your number as if you were in the US. In other words:

-to call your friend dial 00 352…
-to call the UK cab dial 0787 123… (when dialed from within the country all UK numbers have a zero in the beginning)
-and a bonus: your friend will dial 00 1 484.. to call you:)

    Hope this helps.

    Hello John,

Posting the same question several times doesn’t trigger a faster reply.
This website has all the details needed for calling from any country to any country. Sending text messages works the same way. In this case, please refer to the page showing how to dial from Australia to Ghana. If you have other more specific questions please reply to this post.

    Hi Tony,

Toll free numbers are meant to be called from within the country they are registered in. Sometimes calling a toll free number from abroad works, but you will incur international charges for your call. Use the dialing codes we provide for the two countries to try calling these numbers. For the Mexico number drop the starting zero.

It does look like a UK cell, however without the country code (44) I can not be 100% sure.

    Hi,

These are special numbers triggering a local call when dialed from within Australia. You will have to find a regular number used by the business you are trying to reach.

I posted their website address above – please visit the site for their contact info. To dial Morocco from Serbia enter 00 212 followed by the phone number you want to call.

    Hi,
This number you listed above doesn’t look right. Did you replace the last 3 digits or did you add ??? to the complete number? All Russian phone numbers are 10 digit (without the country code which is 7). Also, I don’t know of any Russian number starting with 1 (one). Try dialing it to see what happens (you would add 011 before the number).

    Hi,

There are 2 main different wireless technologies currently used in the world: GSM and CDMA. European countries use mostly the GSM technology while the latter is prevalently used in North America and other continents. Although SMS messages are GSM based, texting between phones using the two technologies generally work today. However, incompatibilities still exist and while I can not say for sure why you can’t receive SMS messages from your parents I believe it’s either an incompatibility between the two networks or your phone is not capable of displaying/receiving SMS messages. The Koodomobile network is CDMA while Rogers uses GSM. Your friend in the Czech Republic is probably using Telefonica (a CDMA operator) and this is why you are able to receive her messages. In Norway, there is a company called IceNet ( https://www.ice.no ) using CDMA – perhaps you want to ask your parents to try sending you a message from a phone using this provider to see if it works.

    For the US: 00 1 ??? ??? ????
