    Hi David,

Add just 1. The plus sign is added when dialing internationally (if you were in Australia). If the area code is 212 the call might also go through if you dial the local number without the area code (last 7 digits). For area code 646 you must add 1 and dial all 11 digits.

Try using a different line to see what happens. I can try dialing the number for you if you want to see if it rings.

Dialing his number the way you do when he is in the US is the way to go. I can’t tell you why the call triggers his voicemail – either his phone is turned off or he is not in a coverage area.

One other thing: are you sure that he called home using the US phone with the US SIM card? Isn’t it possible that he bought a prepaid SIM card over in Uganda and used it to call home? In this case you would need to know his Uganda number and dial 011 256…

You dial 001 plus 10 digit phone number (xxx xxx xxxx). You can also replace the starting 00 with the plus sign.

Did you talk to your wireless provider and they told you to use yournumber@sfr.fr to receive emails to your phone?

To send you SMS messages using their cell phones your American friends should use the same procedure used for calling you: 011 33 6?? ??? ???.

    Hi Aime,

This number you have looks right – fixed numbers are 8 digit in Benin (since 2005 when they were 6 digit). Maybe your parents no longer have this number – I tried dialing it too and I receive an inexistent number error.

    Hi Algin,
By roaming cellphone I suppose you mean a Philippines cell traveling to New Zealand? If so just dial the number the way you dial it when the cell is at home in the Philies. Here’s a page explaining in detail how international roaming works

As for rates charged – you, the caller will not pay any extra charges or international rates. The person you will call will however incur international charges.

Indeed I don’t know what to say – seems that the problem is on your end. Asking your wireless provider about this is the best starting point. Let us know what they say. Thanks:)

    Hi,
Make sure you can send texts internationally – call your wireless provider to ask. Sometimes calling/texting to international numbers is blocked. Otherwise you seem to be dialing the right numbers. One other option you have is to replace 00 with the plus sign.

    Hi Karinna,

Have you looked at the page showing how to dial from AU to Ireland? This number you have is an Ireland cell so you don’t need to add city area codes. On the other hand the starting zero in this cell number is used for calls within Ireland so you should leave it out. This is what you should dial: 0011 353 851 203 0??

    I hope this helps.

    Hello,
All I can tell you is that the Philippines numbering plan hasn’t changed recently. If you could reply with the telephone number you are dialing I will try to call the number and see if it rings. It would also help to know what country you are in.

This depends on the service you will use. We provide dialing information only.

    Hello Kayal,

You will dial his national number: 3?? ??? ???? without adding any international codes.

The numbers they dial should be either: 001 65 ???? ???? or +65 ???? ????. The plus sign can replace the 001 exit code when using a cell phone or VoIP phone to connect. If this is what they enter and the call doesn’t go through most likely they can not place international calls. For example their calling plan may not allow international dialing for some reason. Have them try to dial another international number just to see if the call goes through. Or have them call their service provider to inquire about this issue.

Well I need more details. What is the phone number they’ve been dialing?

Using the plus sign replaces the exit code no matter what country you are in.

    Hello,

In the number you posted above the country code is 44 which belongs to the UK. This is a UK cellular phone (7045….). Here is the page explaining in detail how calling from the US to the United Kingdom works

    Hello,

Texting works the same as dialing so you should be able to text by entering: 00 54 11 ???? ????. One other option and I don’t understand why you haven’t already tried this: if you received a text from this person and you were able to successfully reply, why don’t you open the same message and reply to it once again?

    Hope this helps.

    Dan
