    Hello Kiran,
This Italy number is a cellular phone. Like many countries mobile numbers in Italy do not use area codes and are not geographical. In other words you can not know where this number is located by looking at the first digits.

Below is a link to more information for dialing from Germany to Italy:

    Steph,
Most likely you can not place international calls from your cell phone (int. calls can be blocked). Call your wireless operator to make sure that this is the reason you can not text and, if so ask them to unblock international calls for you.

    Hello,
Texting works the same as dialing. To dial/text internationally from Colombia you must know what carrier you are with because different carriers use different international exit codes. Check out this page for a list of these codes by carrier:
    https://www.howtocallabroad.com/results.php?callfrom=colombia&callto=united_states

There is another option that usually works with cellular phones: replace the exit code (00x) with the plus sign: + 1 ??? ??? ????.

Hello. Thanks for taking the time to reply to this post. The 011 code is used for calls from the US and Canada. The user who started this post is calling from the UK which uses 00 instead.

I just updated all pages displaying numbering information for Chad. I apologize for failing to act sooner on this issue. It seems that the changes to this numbering plan were made sometime in 2007. The updated info can be seen at https://www.howtocallabroad.com/chad/

Thanks again for bringing this to my attention.

    Hello,
Thanks for pointing this out. Indeed there was a renumbering in Chad’s numbering plan last year resulting in 7 digit phone numbers for both fixed and mobile subscribers. I will update the Chad page in about 12 hours.

in reply to: Calling to Malawi or Zambia from South Africa #1326

    Hi James,

This looks like she gave you two numbers: 0926020xx and 0978020xx. You need to add South Africa’s exit code followed by the country code of either Zambia or Malawi. You must leave out the starting zero.

Judging by the number of digits and the starting 9 this looks like a Malawi cell phone (in Zambia you should have 9 digits instead of 8 after removing the first zero). So if these numbers are in Malawi you will dial: 00 265 92 602 0xx or 00 265 97 802 0xx. If you can’t connect try using Zambia’s country code also to see what happens.

The pages below have all the info you need for dialing the 2 countries:

    Hi Matt,

You’re not dialing the starting zero used in front of the cell phone number within Poland I hope? Incorrect: 00 48 0… Correct: 00 48 … (no zero after 48).

Try using the + (plus) sign instead of 00 like this: +48 …On many phones this can be achieved by pressing * twice.

    Hi Fiona,
Most likely there is an incompatibility between the two networks (Australian and US) and this is the reason why your message doesn’t get sent/received. Call you wireless provider to inquire about this.

    Hi Elise,

Sorry for the late reply – I wasn’t sure what to answer. I know exactly what you’re talking about, but since I don’t live in the US I didn’t know for sure the answer to your question. Someone I know who lives in the US said that yes, this feature has been implemented over ther also. I will further investigate and if there are any doubts I will let you know. It is possible that not all US wireless carriers allow dialing this way.

    Hello Jean,

This is a UK cell (but you probably know that already). If you are in Italy and you have roaming there for your UK cell then people calling you from any country except the UK will dial your number as if you were in the UK. In short, to reach you from the US this is what one should dial: 011 44 793… So all you do is replace 00 with 011.

For more info on how international cell phone roaming works see the page below:

If you were able to call yesterday it should work. I just tried again and it rings once then I get a “Network busy” message. Probably the networks are not very reliable in Iraq. I would suggest trying again later.

Well strange – I just called again and it rang. Maybe there was a problem with their signal. Try again.

I really don’t know this. Again if you didn’t read the whole message above: is this an Iraq phone or a UK cell used in Iraq via a roaming service?

Not working for me either. I tried using my cell and it says number not valid. When using my landline I get a message in Arabic and English saying “You are not allowed to call this number”.

One other thing: I suppose this is an Iraq registered cell and not a UK cell used in Iraq?

Could be the line you are using to make the call. Let me try dialing the number to make sure it rings. I will not let the person at the other end answer – just want to make sure it’s not a problem with the number you are calling. You can reply with the whole number and I will replace the last 3 digits once I see it.

Did you leave out the starting zero in the cell number? You must dial 00 964 790…

Toll free numbers in Chile are preceded by the area code. For example a 800 number in Santiago has the following format: 2 800 ??? ???. There is no area code 116 – this is probably a national dialing code of some sort. If they list it there it’s likely for a reason. Try adding a zero before 116 to see what happens. Don’t forget however that there is a possibility that the phone your parents use doesn’t work with toll free numbers. Let me know what happens.
